Porsche Macan factory warranty
New Porsche vehicles typically come with basic coverage for 4 years or 50,000 miles and powertrain coverage for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. Coverage starts on the date the vehicle was first sold. Terms can differ by model year, so confirm yours in the warranty booklet or with a Porsche dealer.
Why body style matters
SUVs carry more weight than cars and many have all-wheel drive, which adds a transfer case or coupling, a rear differential and extra axle shafts. Power liftgates, third-row climate control and panoramic roofs add electrical parts that sit outside powertrain coverage.
Turbocharged engine
A turbocharger spins at very high speed and runs hot. Turbo failure, wastegate and boost-control faults, intercooler leaks and carbon build-up on direct-injection engines are the common problems. Check that the turbocharger is named in the contract, because some basic powertrain plans leave it out.
Electric drivetrain
An electric vehicle has no engine oil, spark plugs or multi-speed transmission. What can fail is the drive unit, the onboard charger, the DC-DC converter, the heat pump and the battery cooling system, plus the same suspension, steering and electronics as any car. Only some plans accept EVs, and battery capacity loss is not covered.
