How claims work

What happens from the moment something breaks to the repair being paid.

Auto

Car claims in three steps

  1. 1

    Get to a licensed shop

Take the vehicle to any licensed repair facility. If it can't be driven, use the plan's roadside benefit if it has one.

  2. 2

    The shop calls it in

Before work starts, the shop gives the plan administrator a diagnosis and an estimate.

  3. 3

    Repair approved and paid

The administrator authorizes the covered repair and pays the shop. You pay your deductible and anything not covered.

Home

Home claims in three steps

  1. 1

    Report the problem

Contact the provider's claims line or portal as soon as a covered item fails.

  2. 2

    A contractor visits

The provider assigns a contractor. You pay the service call fee when they come out.

  3. 3

    Fixed or replaced

The contractor diagnoses the failure and the provider approves the repair or replacement if it is covered.

What to have ready

  • Your contract number
  • For vehicles: current mileage and maintenance records
  • For homes: the make, model and age of the item if you know it

Who handles my claim?

Claims are handled by the administrator named in your contract, not by Warranty Wizards. Their claims number is on the first page of the contract. If you can't find it, call us at (800) 285-6204 and we'll point you to the right place.

If a claim is denied

Ask for the reason in writing, with the contract section it relies on. Most contracts describe an appeal process, and your state's insurance or consumer-protection office accepts complaints about service contracts.
