Parts to check in a FR-S plan
- EngineThe engine block, cylinder heads and the internally lubricated parts inside them: pistons, crankshaft, camshafts, timing chain, oil pump and valve train.
- TransmissionThe transmission case and internal parts, the torque converter, valve body and, on most plans, the transmission control module. Automatic, manual, CVT and dual-clutch units are all eligible.
- Drive axle and differentialFront and rear differentials, axle shafts, constant-velocity joints, the driveshaft and universal joints.
Scion FR-S factory warranty
Scion was a discontinued Toyota brand, and US sales ended around 2016. Every Scion FR-S on the road is long past its factory warranty, so any mechanical failure is paid out of pocket unless a service contract is in place. Age and mileage limits differ by provider, and older vehicles may qualify only for powertrain-level coverage.
Why body style matters
Sports cars are driven harder and built with tighter tolerances. Clutches, limited-slip differentials and high-output engines cost more to repair, and plans commonly exclude damage from racing or track use.
Naturally aspirated gas engine
A conventional gas engine has no turbocharger, which removes one expensive part. The costly failures are internal: timing chain components, head gaskets, oil pumps and, on direct-injection engines, the high-pressure fuel pump. Powertrain-level plans cover these internally lubricated parts.

FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Is the Scion FR-S eligible for extended coverage?
Eligibility depends on the vehicle's year and mileage, and each provider sets its own limits. Because the FR-S is no longer sold new, older examples may qualify only for powertrain-level plans.
Which coverage level fits a Scion FR-S?
If the gas engine and transmission are your main concern, a powertrain plan covers them. If you also want air conditioning, electrical parts and electronics covered, look at a mid-level or comprehensive plan.
How much does a Scion FR-S extended warranty cost?
Price depends on the model year, mileage, coverage level, deductible and your ZIP code. Request a quote with your details for an actual price.
