Lincoln Aviator factory warranty
New Lincoln vehicles typically come with basic coverage for 4 years or 50,000 miles and powertrain coverage for 6 years or 70,000 miles, whichever comes first. Coverage starts on the date the vehicle was first sold. Terms can differ by model year, so confirm yours in the warranty booklet or with a Lincoln dealer.
Why body style matters
SUVs carry more weight than cars and many have all-wheel drive, which adds a transfer case or coupling, a rear differential and extra axle shafts. Power liftgates, third-row climate control and panoramic roofs add electrical parts that sit outside powertrain coverage.
Turbocharged engine
A turbocharger spins at very high speed and runs hot. Turbo failure, wastegate and boost-control faults, intercooler leaks and carbon build-up on direct-injection engines are the common problems. Check that the turbocharger is named in the contract, because some basic powertrain plans leave it out.
Plug-in hybrid system
A plug-in hybrid has the parts of a gas car and of an electric car: engine, transmission, a larger battery, an onboard charger and a charge port. Ask specifically whether the onboard charger and high-voltage components are covered.
