Ford Fusion extended warranty
The Ford Fusion is a sedan that was offered with a turbocharged engine, hybrid system or plug-in hybrid system. Here's what the factory warranty covers, what it leaves out and what to look for in a plan.

Parts to check in a Fusion plan
- Turbocharger and superchargerThe turbocharger or supercharger housing and internal parts, the wastegate actuator and, on higher tiers, the intercooler.
- EngineThe engine block, cylinder heads and the internally lubricated parts inside them: pistons, crankshaft, camshafts, timing chain, oil pump and valve train.
- TransmissionThe transmission case and internal parts, the torque converter, valve body and, on most plans, the transmission control module. Automatic, manual, CVT and dual-clutch units are all eligible.
- Hybrid and EV componentsThe inverter, electric drive motor, onboard charger, DC-DC converter and battery cooling pump.
- Air conditioningThe compressor, clutch, condenser, evaporator, receiver-drier and expansion valve.
- Electrical systemThe alternator, starter, voltage regulator, wiper motors, power-window motors and regulators, and power-lock actuators.
How much factory warranty is left on your Fusion?
Estimate only, assuming the car was first sold early in its model year. Your in-service date is on your registration or available from a dealer.
Ford Fusion factory warranty
New Ford vehicles typically come with basic coverage for 3 years or 36,000 miles and powertrain coverage for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. Coverage starts on the date the vehicle was first sold. Terms can differ by model year, so confirm yours in the warranty booklet or with a Ford dealer.
The Fusion is no longer sold new in the US, so most examples are close to or beyond the end of factory coverage.
Why body style matters
Sedans are the least demanding body style mechanically. There is one driven axle on most, no transfer case and less weight for the brakes and suspension to manage, so plan prices are usually at the lower end.
Turbocharged engine
A turbocharger spins at very high speed and runs hot. Turbo failure, wastegate and boost-control faults, intercooler leaks and carbon build-up on direct-injection engines are the common problems. Check that the turbocharger is named in the contract, because some basic powertrain plans leave it out.
Hybrid system
A hybrid adds a high-voltage battery, an inverter, one or more motor-generators and an electric air-conditioning compressor. The hybrid battery usually has its own long factory warranty. Many extended plans exclude the battery but cover the inverter and motors, so read that section carefully.
Plug-in hybrid system
A plug-in hybrid has the parts of a gas car and of an electric car: engine, transmission, a larger battery, an onboard charger and a charge port. Ask specifically whether the onboard charger and high-voltage components are covered.
About Ford
Ford sells more trucks than anything else, and its EcoBoost turbo engines and 10-speed automatic are complex assemblies. Diesel Super Duty trucks get longer factory diesel-engine coverage, but everything else follows the standard terms.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Ford Fusion eligible for extended coverage?
Eligibility depends on the vehicle's year and mileage, and each provider sets its own limits. Because the Fusion is no longer sold new, older examples may qualify only for powertrain-level plans.
Which coverage level fits a Ford Fusion?
If the turbocharged engine and transmission are your main concern, a powertrain plan covers them. If you also want air conditioning, electrical parts and electronics covered, look at a mid-level or comprehensive plan.
How much does a Ford Fusion extended warranty cost?
Price depends on the model year, mileage, coverage level, deductible and your ZIP code. Request a quote with your details for an actual price.
