How much factory warranty is left on your i3?
Estimate only, assuming the car was first sold early in its model year. Your in-service date is on your registration or available from a dealer.
BMW i3 factory warranty
New BMW vehicles typically come with basic coverage for 4 years or 50,000 miles and powertrain coverage for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. Coverage starts on the date the vehicle was first sold. Terms can differ by model year, so confirm yours in the warranty booklet or with a BMW dealer.
The i3 is no longer sold new in the US, so most examples are close to or beyond the end of factory coverage.
Why body style matters
Hatchbacks are mechanically close to small sedans, with one driven axle and modest weight. That generally keeps coverage affordable, though small turbocharged engines are increasingly common.
Electric drivetrain
An electric vehicle has no engine oil, spark plugs or multi-speed transmission. What can fail is the drive unit, the onboard charger, the DC-DC converter, the heat pump and the battery cooling system, plus the same suspension, steering and electronics as any car. Only some plans accept EVs, and battery capacity loss is not covered.
About BMW
BMW's factory coverage is a single 4-year, 50,000-mile term. After that, turbochargers, cooling components, electronics and adaptive suspension are common sources of large repair bills.

FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Is the BMW i3 eligible for extended coverage?
Eligibility depends on the vehicle's year and mileage, and each provider sets its own limits. Fewer providers accept fully electric vehicles, so tell us the exact model and year. Because the i3 is no longer sold new, older examples may qualify only for powertrain-level plans.
Which coverage level fits a BMW i3?
For an electric vehicle, look for a plan that names the drive unit, onboard charger and electronics, since there is no engine or conventional transmission to cover.
How much does a BMW i3 extended warranty cost?
Price depends on the model year, mileage, coverage level, deductible and your ZIP code. Request a quote with your details for an actual price.
